Salford Council have approved plans for a scheme which will see three hundred and eight apartments being built on the corner of Blackfriars and Trinity Way.

The block, which is being backed by BetFred founder Fred Done, will include one, two and three-bedroom apartments, and commercial space. The Black Friars pub will force the entrance to the new development which was designed by the architects 5plus and at the heart of the development there will be a new public square with seating and an orchard.

It will be the first large Private Rented Sector scheme to be built in Greater Manchester.

Fred Done established his first betting shop in his home town of Salford in 1967, said to have been largely funded by a substantial bet on England to win the World Cup in the previous year. Fred Bet now has over eight hundred bookies across the country and is based in Warrington.

The scheme is said to be Fred’s legacy to his home town.
