The business Secretary Kemi Badenoch  has refuted allegations made by the former Post Office boss Henry Staunton in the Sunday paoers

Staunton who Badenoch sacked told the Sunday Times that the government was going slow on compensation payments on purpose and that he only found out that he had been sacked after seeing a report on Sky News and said Badenoch told him he was being removed from his job in January because someone had to “take the rap” for the affair

She said his weekend attacks on her and the business department were “a blatant attempt to seek revenge following dismissal.” and said that minutes of her call sacking Staunton last month will be published via parliament

She said that his claim he was told to stall on compensation payments was a lie

She added thatthere were concerns about his behaviour as chairman,accused him of failing to comply with a probe into the allegations, pointed to squabbles he had with colleagues over appointments to the Post Office board.
