A 16-year-old male has been arrested after being tracked down by an police dog after fleeing from police and driving down the wrong side of the M60 in the early hours of this morning

Police spotted a suspicious Peugeot Expert van on Mount Road in Gorton around 2.15 this morning

The van made off from police and continued along Hyde Road before turning onto the M60 motorway into oncoming traffic.

Between the junctions the van stopped on the hard shoulder, with the suspect abandoning the van and making off up the embankment.

GMP’s Tactical Dog Unit (TDU) were drafted in with PD Hully  tasked with finding the offender.

Hully tracked up the motorway embankment, across fields and into the Brinnington estate where the suspect was found in children’s play area, still in possession of the van keys.

He was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop and taking without owner’s consent and remains in police custody for questioning.
