Ditch the wellies, and forget about the mud, as this summer The Great Northern Warehouse will be throwing its very own Street Festival, with free of charge arts and activities, whatever your interest.
From 12pm Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th August, the destination’s Deansgate Mews, on its upper level, will be transformed into a street of fun festivities, that brings together the best of Manchester’s art, music, food and drink scene.
With a line-up that’s bursting at the seams, bring your mates, or the whole family, to this immersive Mancunian festival, where all contributions will be donated to Forever Manchester.
Watch as four of Manchester’s top street artists battle it out to create giant murals of what ‘The Great North’ means to them. This live art experience is sure to grip festival goers, as they watch masterpieces by Qubeck, creator of 22 Bess at Coffee Pot, Mr Dabl, SPHERE3, and MOZE, evolve before their eyes.
There’ll be plenty of live music too, with 10-piece collective, The Moods, bringing its unique drum & bass, reggae and hip-hop on Saturday, along with Manc musician, James Holt. Or you can jam to the distinctive sound of Scuttlers on Sunday, accompanied by Tom Metcalf, Stephen Chadwick (The Backhanders) and many more. More than 26 acts will perform over the two days either on the outdoor stage, or in new Great Northern venue, The Lion’s Den.
All taking place on Manchester’s hidden gem, the Great Northern Mews, the festival will pull out all the stops so that stomachs don’t start rumbling; with special Platzkipolish cuisine pierogis, limited-edition Dormouse Chocolates s’mores, cakes from Alex’s Bakery, and sourdough sampling from new Great Northern brand, Holy Grain, to satisfy any sweet or savoury cravings.
Mews residents, Virtual Hideout, will also be offering free tasters on a selection of fully immersive virtual reality games, plus the Street Festival will also welcome a pop up Gift Emporium over the weekend, hosting a variety of quirky gift sellers from across the North West.
