From the 12th-22nd of October, Kampus, Manchester’s rental garden neighbourhood, hosts Love From – a brand new alcohol-free pop up bar experience that promises a series of alcohol free events for those who are off the booze, sober-curious or just looking for something outside of their norm to try. Founded by Karl Considine, host and founder of ‘What Next’ podcast, the space aims to provide all the buzz of being in an amazing bar without the alcohol.

Across the two weeks, Love From will host multiple interactive events with guests paving the way in the alcohol-free market including a tasting masterclass with alcohol free spirit brand, Lyres and an art workshop and cocktail tasting with Manchester artist Caroline Dowsett. The pre-existing alcohol free community in the city is giving Love From its full support, with pioneers including Sober Girl Society, So Let’s Talk and Manchester Pride hosting a mixer, open mic night and a queer film screening respectively.

Founder Karl Considine is an Alcohol Change UK (ACUK) Ambassador and has recently left his 15 year corporate job to pursue Love From full time. Having previously lived a life that involved heavy drinking, he has been sober for over two and a half years and describes Love From as; “Very much a passion project. We’re creating a space for people to connect in a setting that serves super tasty alcohol-alternative drinks coupled with hosting awesome events.”

Centred around community and top quality drink options, Love From aims to inspire others with experiences in a bar setting that they wouldn’t usually consider in a fun creative way that challenges the narrative that alcohol-free does not have to be boring. Upon completion of the Love From pop up, Karl is looking to garner feedback from guests as he looks for a permanent space to create something incredible for the Manchester community.

Adam Higgins, Co-founder of Capital&Centric, said: “Karl’s a massive champion for change and this run of unique pop-up events is something different for the city to coincide with Sober October. It offers a real alternative for those who want to meet up and connect with people in a space that doesn’t revolve around alcohol.”

The menu will consist of cocktails developed in partnership with Lyre’s, Everleaf and Caleno, and alcohol free beers from Lucky Saint and Beavertown. There will also be original cocktails available throughout the two weeks at Kampus where the team at Love From will be testing out some unique styles and flavours ahead of opening a permanent space.
