Renowned Artist Andrew Swan to Unveil Award-Winning Exhibition Stinking Rich : The Cost of Wealth During The People’s Assembly Events in Manchester Sept 30-Oct 3

As part of The People’s Assembly events, coinciding with the Tory Party Conference in Manchester, acclaimed artist Andrew Swan is set to showcase his award-winning exhibition, Stinking Rich : The Cost of Wealth in the heart of Piccadilly Gardens.

The Cost of Wealth is a thought-provoking exhibition challenging the notions of privilege, responsibility, and consequences.

It highlights the activities of four prominent British billionaires: James Dyson (DYSON), Jim Ratcliffe (INEOS), Kirsten Rausing (TETRAPAK), and Denise Coates (BET 365).

Each billionaire is symbolically represented on four plinths resembling tomb covers, accompanied by informative panels inviting viewers to contemplate their significance. All literature on display is not opinion-based,

it is simply a collection of factual information already in the public domain.
Andrew Swan has garnered widespread acclaim for this touring exhibition, earning glowing reviews across the West Country, including cities and towns such as Bristol, Plymouth, St Ives, Penzance, and Falmouth Art Gallery, where he received an award at their Imagine Open Exhibition.

Notably, the exhibition faced controversy recently when it was banned from the In This Together exhibition in Trebah Gardens, Falmouth after a mere six individuals found Andrew’s striking effigies ‘depressing’ and voiced their complaints, resulting in the artwork’s removal:

Manchester will proudly host the its first showing of outside of the South West, a fitting addition to The People’s Assembly events, as Andrew comments,

“I’m very excited to be showcasing my exhibition in Manchester for the first time. It focuses on certain billionaires’ extreme wealth and what effects they have had on our society and environment – one of those billionaires being Jim Ratcliffe, owner of INEOS, who was born in Failsworth.

“I’m delighted to be part of the People’s Assembly event Festival of Resistance and I look forward to meeting a new audience here in Manchester.”

Andrew Swan invites the public to experience the exhibition, which offers free entry to all attendees. The People’s Assembly marquee will be open from Saturday September 30th, until Tuesday, October 3rd midday-7pm each day.
