Building a snowman and playing with snow make winters fun however at the same time the freezing temperature sometimes make people hate it too. Also, do you know what is the worst thing about winter? It is to get out of your fluffy blanket and comfortable bed in the morning and step on the freezing cold floor, then walk to the toilet to wash your face with water that becomes cold literally in the blink of an eye. In all this everyone wishes to keep their houses as warm as possible and for this, below are a few tips.

1.Time Your Central Heating

In winter, the energy bills are usually touching the sky and the major chunk of it is contributed by the central heating systems and boiler, without which one just cannot imagine spending their winters. Did you know that you can act a little smartly with your system and use the timer to raise and lower the heating temperature depending upon when you need it the most and when you barely need it? This way your energy bill can be controlled and even your need will be satisfied.

2. Use Curtains

Winters in the best time to use curtains. So make sure you shut your curtains completely as the sun sets and show the beautiful pattern painted on them. These closed curtains act as an additional layer for insulation and so help keep the place warmer.

3. Free Space Near the Radiator

I know everyone loves sitting in front of the radiator of central heating and enjoy the hot air coming out from it but you need to realize that if you block the radiator with a sofa then most of the heat will be absorbed by the sofa. So to keep your house warm you must clear up the space near the radiator so that hot air can circulate freely and easily.

4. Look for Leakages

Don’t forget that no matter how amazing your central heating system is, if your house has leakages and if there’s no proper sealing then the central system will not be very effective. So in order to avoid hot air from leaking, check your windows and doors carefully and see if there’s any leakage and if there is, then block it as soon as possible.

5. Change Your Boiler If It Is Too Old

It’s true that with time new and better versions of every electronic is introduced so if your boiler is very old like 10-15 years old then my friend it’s about time that you spend a little money on it and upgrade to a newer model. You can also opt for gas central heating if it’s more economical for you.

6. Block the Chimney If Not in Use

Did you know that if your chimney is not in use and is not blocked then it can suck the heat out of your house? So make sure you block the flue and draft of your chimney when it’s not in use and not let the heat escape from your house.
