Police are appealing for information after a brick was thrown at officers in Hulme on Monday evening .

Officers from the Moss Side and Hulme Community Policing Team were responding to reports of antisocial behaviour on Rosshill Walk in Hulme.

A police officer had remained seated in a marked police car when a man approached the car and threw a brick with force at the officer.

Fortunately, the officer was able to avoid serious injury by accelerating at speed, causing the brick to hit the rear passenger window of the car.

Officers are keen to speak to a man who is described as mixed race, aged between 25 to 30-years-old, around 5ft 10in and of medium build.

He was wearing a blue jacket and a cap.

Officers believe he may have been part of a larger group of young people in the Rosshill Walk area and are appealing for any information from witnesses or other members of the community.

Superintendent Dave Pester of GMP’s City of Manchester Team, said: “I am absolutely sickened by this incident.

“My team were deliberately targeted whilst they were out and about dealing with issues raised by the community, which we will always endeavour to make our priority but sadly, this calculated attack took us away from our duties.

“This will be thoroughly investigated by detectives and my plea to the community is that they help us fine this man who could have seriously injured our colleague.”
