A new mental health facility, based at North Manchester General Hospital’s Emergency Department, began welcoming patients who are in need of urgent mental health care. ‘The Green Room’, launched as a new facility which accepts patients who are experiencing a mental health crisis. They are cared for in calm environment, away from the Emergency Department, which can often worsen crisis mental health situations.

Giving a rendition of Oasis’ Wonderwall and Heaven Knows I’m miserable now by the Smith’s Greater Manchester’s Mayor Andy Burnham issued a call to arms for the region’s music industry as he launched Greater Manchester’s Music Commission.

This year marked the 100th anniversary of The Royal Exchange Manchester’s official opening by King George V and Queen Mary, following its refurbishment and third extension in 1921. Dakota Hotel in Manchester celebrated as one of the hotel’s employees was awarded a prestigious Caterer Acorn Award – which celebrates 30 of the industry’s most talented stars aged under 30 across the UK. Katie Forrest, aged 26, was one of two Manchester shining stars to be awarded one of the
industry’s most well-known awards.

EE and Beatport made history in Manchester by bringing EE x Beatport Presents Parallel, the UK’s first hybrid, 5G powered club night event, to the music-loving city. Manchester Airport’s Runway Visitor Park confirmed the return of its ever-popular Flight Academy, as it reopened fully following the lifting of Coronavirus restrictions. The Academy programme is a firm favourite with young families. During the 90-minute session, children taking part learned about the different job roles that help ensure that Manchester Airport runs smoothly.

Award-winning sculptor Andy Scott won the commission to create permanent statues of Manchester City Club legends Vincent Kompany, David Silva and Sergio Aguero.

Aldi announced it was looking to hire 283 colleagues in Greater Manchester between August and Christmas. The UK’s fifth-largest supermarket searched for people of all levels of experience to fill roles at its stores and distribution centres across the region, with salaries of up to £47,000.
