Five men from the Oldham area have been arrested this morning  as part of Operation Challenger targeting organised crime activity and those involved in large scale supply of drugs.

The five aged 28, 34, 47, 23, and 21 were arrested in connection with the supply of Class A drugs over an 18-month period across Oldham.

They all remain in custody for police questioning.

Detective Constable Gary Lamont of GMP’s Oldham borough, said: “This is a complex investigation, which has been running for almost two years with the aim of dismantling organised crime groups, targeting those involved not only in the supply of drugs but those who orchestrate the ongoing criminality.

“This sends out a strong message to those engaging in organised crime in Greater Manchester; no matter what role you play, you will be targeted and brought to justice.

“We cannot however, bring these people to justice without the help of the public who come forward with information and give us the tools to be able to fight crime in Greater Manchester.
