The world’s most famous locomotive, A3 60103 ‘Flying Scotsman’ will be steaming back to the Bury based East Lancashire Railway for a series of visits in 2020.

The East Lancashire Railway and National Railway Museum have revealed that fans of Flying Scotsman will be able to get their 2020 diary on track with a host of exciting events to experience the engineering icon like never before.

As well as the opportunity to ride behind the legendary locomotive along the scenic 12-mile Lancashire line, Flying Scotsman will also be making special appearances at some of the railway’s major events such as Day out with Thomas and the award-winning 1940s weekend.

For those that like the taste of the finer things in life, dedicated dining experiences will also be available. From four course, fine dining affairs hauled by Flying Scotsman to a themed Sparkling Breakfast and even a Highlands Afternoon Tea.

What’s more, schools will also be able to get in on the action with STEM focused educational visits.

Tickets for the East Lancashire Railway’s 2020 Flying Scotsman programme will go on sale from Monday 9 December, and will make the perfect Christmas present for the loco lover in your life.
