Escape to Freight Island is proud to announce a magical new addition to Winter
Island this festive season and introduces a boutique ice rink in the sky, located on the concert mezzanine inside Escape to Freight Island, open to public from Friday 12th November.
Positioned underneath the striking industrial roof of Depot Mayfield, the ice rink will also
be part of a semi self-contained winter village, where food and drinks from Winter Island
are available and can be pre-ordered to suit skating needs – from mulled wine and
festive beer, to grilled bratwurst and hog roast sandwiches.
Escape to Freight Island customers can also add in this experience as part of their time in the space, making the huge space a one stop hang out destination this Christmas.
Skaters will float on ice in the sky with remarkable views overlooking the stage inside Escape to Freight Island, which has a series of festive entertainment, from Christmas specials with The Untold Orchestra, to showings of all-time favourite Christmas films, and so much more – everything anyone could wish for as the festive season sparkles into action. Winter Island and this boutique indoor ice rink in the sky will be a unique destination for everyone to enjoy this winter.
The ice rink opening hours are Monday to Thursday from 4pm until 11pm, and Friday to
Sunday from 10am until 11pm. Tickets are priced at £13 / £10 for adult (peak / off-peak
times); £11 / £8 for children (peak / off-peak times); and £10 for students.

Winter Island at Escape to Freight Island will open from Friday 5 th November – as well
as ice rink in the sky, it will present a series of free and ticketed events, Christmas tree
forest and a host of new festive traders and stalls. Escape to Freight Island will be

Escape to Freight Island is an inspiring urban landscape rebuilt and rethought around a
visionary food market, a unique selection of bars, inventive culture spaces and intimate
seating. Opening hours are Monday to Thursday (3pm – 12am), Friday (12pm – 1am),
