Following festival appearances this summer including Frank Turner’s The Gathering; Pontypridd, Singer-Songwriter Tom Jenkins has announced a four-date headline tour including Night and Day in Manchester this December.
Hailing from the high country of the South Wales Valleys, Tom Jenkins was surrounded by the ex-coal mining communities and rugged landscape where he farms. Starting early life acclaimed as “Britain’s Youngest Shepherd” by 90’s Breakfast TV and National News, a life in music seemed worlds away but somewhere along the line the path would change. Jenkins set out on his own musical quest, playing in local rock bands, eventually fronting his own band releasing albums and touring with the likes of Motörhead, The Presidents of the USA plus many more established acts across Europe and playing shows in the US.
Eventually ending New Zealand, Jenkins found the right time and place to write his debut album ‘Misery in Comfort’. Mixing his unique experiences and unique voice into beautifully, crafted, melodic songs inspired by Country, Folk and Indie-Pop Jenkins caught the attention of American producer Elijah Ford and American, Grammy and Oscar winning, singer-songwriter Ryan Bingham who he toured with across Ireland.
Jenkin’s patriotic folk EP “When The Coal Dust Settled” followed then during lockdown, Jenkins started work on his second album. Working with lifelong friend and producer Todd Campbell, the new album features guest appearances from Phil Campbell (Motorhead), Marc Ford (The Black Crowes), Elijah Ford (Gary Clark Jnr) and Paul Mullen (YOURCODENAMEIS:MILO, The Automatic) who features new single ‘Cocaine Hearts’ – due for release later this month.
