With Autumn upon us and winter fast approaching, it’s time to pull out the raincoat, put on the wellies and go for a nice winter walk. But what walk is complete without a furry friend and quick pit stop?

Manchester is brimming with dog-friendly pubs, but to make it that bit easier Christopher Cederskog – European General Manager of Rover.com – has recommended his favourite Manchurian watering holes.

Rover.com is the largest dog walking and boarding service in North America, matching owners with trusted sitters. Thanks to Rover’s stringent sign up process, owners can be safe in the knowledge that their dog will be well looked after – with all prospective sitters and walkers facing a safety check and test before being hand-reviewed by sitter quality specialists. 1 in 5 applicants are successful.

 Cottonopolis

16 Newton Street, M1 2AE

On top of killing it in the food department, Cottonpolis is also one of the most dog-friendly pubs in Manchester. Offering pooches the full VIP experience, dogs can enjoy a special treat of tuna sashimi or char sui pork whilst you sip a cold pint.

The Bay Horse Tavern

35-37 Thomas Street, M4 1NA

This lovely watering hole has a log fire, a secret garden and big comfy sofas for doggies to enjoy. Why not grab a delicious craft beer and come on down with your furry friend to enjoy to one of their many free music gigs.

The Wharf

6 Slate Wharf, M15 4ST

The Wharf is situated on the beautiful canal-side, offering scenic views for both humans and dogs. All furry friends – big and small  – are welcome is both the bar and the beautiful beer garden. It’s one of my favourite spots in Manchester.

Refuge by Volta

Oxford Street, M60 7HA

Known for its decorative tiling and soaring ceilings, Refuge by Volta is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day. The bar staff are more than happy to provide cosy dog beds, making it hard not to enjoy a drink with your best friend curled up by your feet.

Roc & Rye

60 Spring Gardens, M2 2BQ

Well-mannered doggies are more than welcome at this gorgeous cocktail bar. Situated within a Grade II listed building, the Roc & Rye creates the perfect atmosphere to relax with your friends. To top it off, their award-winning mixologists have created an exquisite menu of cocktails to spice up your night.

Albert’s Schloss

27 Peter Street, M2 5QR

All dogs are warmly welcomed into this Bavarian-style restaurant and beer hall, with a refreshing bowl of water. Owners can look forward to walls adorned with skis, menus featuring Teutonic castles, and log fires in the middle of stone tables.
