The iconic landmark bar and restaurant, The Refuge at Kimpton Clocktower Hotel is proud to announce the return of its magical Christmas Carol: a celebration of festive food and drink offerings, along with local partnerships that encapsulates all that is Merry in Manchester, launching on Friday 12th November 2021.

The Refuge Christmas Carol will start the countdown to the festive season with a special
launch event on 12th November. The evening will include a performance from The Hallé

Ancoats Community Choir, and guests should keep their eyes peeled for a local hero
making a special guest appearance as the first of the season’s Town Criers.

On Saturday 28th November, The Refuge will host a fancy dress competition for dogs.
The event will take place in the heated, undercover courtyard, and furry friends will be
invited to dress up in their fanciest outfits and have their photos taken with fun Christmas
props.

Every Thursday in December from 6.30pm, The Refuge will be holding a Christmas Wreath
Making Workshop in collaboration with Giraffe Flowers, the in-house florist at Kimpton
Clocktower Hotel. At £70 per person, the fee includes all the materials and guidance from
experts to make a showstopping Christmas wreath that you can hang proudly on your door,
along with a festive cocktail and mince pie. Spaces are limited to 10 people per class.

Capturing the spirit of an Edwardian Christmas, on Saturdays 5th and 12th December will see a brand new Christmas Fair launching on the Refuge terrace.

Guests can get their Christmas shopping list ticked off with Top of The Town Vintage bringing hand-picked and carefully curated true vintage pieces; Manchester-based Etsy best sellers, HollieGraphik, creating music inspired prints; contemporary homewares and accessories pop-up from Deadstock General Store; Northern On The Run with a selection of handmade homewares, jewellery and digital artwork; plus special accessories from artist and stylist, Mariel Osborn; there’ll be a fine local craft beer selection from Manchester Union Lager; and other surprise special guest independent traders to be announced soon.

There’ll also be an epic line-up of DJs carefully selected across the festive season, including
Refuge residents, DJ Santa on 20 th to 22 nd December and many more to be announced.

Christmas in the Dining Room at The Refuge will feature a Feasting Menu available to
anyone pre booked from Monday to Saturday throughout December. The menu features a
collection of ‘sleeves up, dig in’ dishes for maximum culinary yuletide delight, with the main
event being a herb and butter-roasted turkey breast with cranberry and apricot stuffing,
goose fat roast potatoes, cranberry-glazed pigs in blankets and lots of festive veg. Feasting
menus are served sharing style and priced at £32.50 per person.

Take the pressure of cooking for the whole family on Christmas Day itself and let The
Refuge do it for you, with their Christmas Day menu.

A gorgeous menu of all the festive classics lovingly prepared, with hand-carved Cheshire roast turkey, sirloin tournedos, duck breast or butternut squash, spinach and chestnut Wellington. For dessert, choose from Christmas pud, sherry trifle, chocolate and cherry parfait or treacle tart with liquorice ice cream. The Christmas Day menu is priced at £120 per adult, £60 for 13 to 17-year-olds, £30 for six to 12-year-olds and free under 6s.

The Refuge Public Bar is open Monday to Wednesday from 10am to 11pm, Thursday 10am
to midnight, Friday and Saturday 10pm to 1am, and Sunday 10am to 10.30pm. The Refuge
Dining Room is open Monday to Thursday (5-9pm only), Friday (1-3pm and 5-10pm),
Saturday (1-4pm and 5-10pm) and Sunday (1-4pm and 5-9pm).
