The Village Screen Pop up Cinema is bringing the ultimate Halloween movie experience to Manchester’s Victoria Baths with a series of fiendish film events, with screenings of Jaws, The Lost Boys and The Witches.

The iconic Edwardian Grade II listed building offers a unique location for the screenings, which are all held in the stunning Gala Pool, creating a fabulously atmospheric and occasionally eerie backdrop to enjoy some Halloween film favourites. Fancy dress is actively encouraged, with autumnal food, drink and live DJs all combining to create a spook-tacular party atmosphere!

The film fun kicks off on Thursday 25 October with Spielberg’s classic 1975 thriller, Jaws. After all, what better way to relive one of the most nail-biting films of all time about a giant man-eating shark, than inside an actual swimming pool? A gripping cinematic classic that’s guaranteed to make everyone watching not want to get back into the water for a very long time!

Bona fide 80’s cult-classic, The Lost Boys, is next up on the big screen on Friday 26 October. This film follows two teenage brothers who move to a small town in California, only to end up fighting a gang of vampires! It’s a perfect blend of horror and comedy plus eighties cool and an eighties soundtrack – what’s not to love!

The last of the screenings celebrates all things magical with family favourite The Witches, which hits the screen on Saturday 27 October. This Roald Dahl adaptation follows an orpan who stumbles upon a secret witches’ convention to discover that they are plotting to turn all children in England into mice. Whether this is one of your favourite childhood films, or one you’ve never seen before, it’s a must see!

The Halloween screenings give a rare opportunity to be spooked and entertained inside one of Manchester’s most stunning buildings, Victoria Baths. A setting of utter Edwardian magnificence – the imposing splendour of the building, vast stained glass windows and winding corridors make it the ideal location to create a Halloween atmosphere. Cinema-goers will be able to grab a drink and some popcorn and then sit back and relax on candy striped deckchairs, or on the balcony overlooking the Gala Pool to watch the film, making it a completely unforgettable experience.

Ahead of the screenings, The Village Screen’s DJ will be spinning top Halloween classics in a setting that’s dressed for the occasion! Some of the North’s finest street food vendors will be serving up fantastic Autumnal grub and The Village Screen bar will be open serving a selection of Thornbridge beers, cocktails, wines, Prosecco, soft drinks and fresh popcorn.
