Sale Sharks director of rugby Steve Diamond has urged his players to learn the lessons from Friday’s frustrating 13-3 Premiership loss to Saracens.

In a hard-fought encounter at the AJ Bell Stadium, the visitors prevailed thanks to Liam Williams’ first-half try and eight points from the boot of Ben Spencer.

Though the Sharks conjured up a number of opportunities, a combination of solid defence from the visitors and uncharacteristic errors from the hosts conspired against Sale.

“We didn’t play particularly well. We coughed the ball up too often and against sides like Saracens they will strangle you if you do that and that’s what happened,” Dimes reflected.
