Premier Manchester development, Deansgate Square, has announced two major restaurant and bars to open this spring and summer.

Coffee and brunch specialist, Mule, and European Drinkery, ATOMECA, will be the next commercial partners to open their doors at the flagship scheme located at the southern end of Deansgate, following the announcement of Deansgate Square General Store in March.

These operators will form an essential part of Deansgate Square’s hospitality offering for residents and visitors alike. They will animate the city’s only riverside square, where each of the new stores boast floor-to-ceiling glass windows and outdoor seating areas.

The Renaker team has worked closely with retail agency Barker Proudlove to bring in both a new commercial offering and a public open space for residents and the wider city centre community.

Opening in mid-May, ATOMECA, a partnership with award-winning bartending duo Joe & Daniel Schofield and wine expert James Brandwood, will provide Manchester’s newest public square with its first ‘European Drinkery’.

Designed by award-winning Lister+Lister, the interior architects of the main lobby space of Deansgate Square, ATOMECA is an all-day venue, championing the best drink and food from the UK and continental Europe, located adjacent to the central concierge space. Fronting onto the River Medlock, with both indoor and outdoor seating, the venue will serve both residents and the public.

ATOMECA will be the first operator to arrive at Deansgate Square when they open their doors, 21st May, 2021. They will focus on serving tea, coffee and locally baked pastries in the morning, through to tapas style plates in the evening and afternoon. ATOMECA will offer an extensive wine list alongside carefully curated cocktails, all available seven days a week.

Following on from the recent opening of Mule Ancoats, Mule at Deansgate Square occupies a soaring, double height space facing into the city, across The Medlock Steps and aims to open this summer.

Designed by Manchester’s Jolie Studio, and combining light blush hues and terracotta shades, the interiors will spark relaxation, decompression and excitement to triple up as a new favourite spot for a brunch date, 3pm cake and late-night cocktails. With a menu featuring brunch classics such as Buttermilk Brioche Chicken Burger and cocktails ranging from the classic Mimosa to a Pistachio Mai Tai, residents and visitors alike will find something for them.

Discussing the openings, James Sidlow, Senior Development Manager at Renaker, commented, “Following the announcement of General Store joining us we are delighted to welcome the next two operators to join us at Deansgate Square. We admire the Mule team for their flair and creativity and ATOMECA for their attention to detail. We hope together they will bring all this and more to Deansgate Square, as we look to create a brand new destination for residents, locals and visitors alike.”

The ‘North Tower’ is owned in a JV between two of LGIM Real Assets flagship funds, the UK Property Fund and Managed Fund. And, the ‘West Tower’ is owned by LGIM Real Assets BTR Fund, a leading investor within the build to rent space.

Rob Codling, Senior Fund Manager, LGIM Real Assets, “West Tower Residences, a flagship BTR development at Deansgate Square delivers high-quality, professionally-managed rental accommodation that responds to the growing wants and needs of the modern day occupier.

We are delighted to welcome Mule and ATOMECA to Deansgate Square, further diversifying its offering for our residents as well as the wider community. Legal & General continue to invest throughout the UK and demonstrate the need for homes with functional space to live, work and play.”
