The 2014 graduated made his Italian début with the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini, one of Italy’s leading symphony orchestras, in March last year when he stepped in at short notice to conduct two concerts.
He was immediately re-invited for the 2015/16 season to conduct programmes in January and March, as well as a seven-concert tour this summer. Alpesh will join the orchestra for three engagements in the 2016/17 season, before he takes up the post of Principal Conductor next year.
I really enjoy working with the Filarmonica Toscanini, and we have already developed a great relationship performing Beethoven’s ‘Eroica’, Rachmaninov’s Second Symphony and Brahms’ First Symphony’, he said. ‘I am particularly looking forward to building on a broad and varied repertoire with the orchestra, and growing together through these ideas when I take up the post of Principal Conductor in 2017.’

Announced shortly after finishing his two years as Assistant Conductor at the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, this news comes at the beginning of an exciting season for Alpesh. Fresh from his BBC Proms début he will also have his first trip to the USA to conduct the Alabama Symphony Orchestra and make his début with the London Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
