The iconic Kimpton Clocktower Hotel’s bar and restaurant, Refuge, is launching a winter takeover of its terrace, inspired by après ski, called Fondue. Fondue includes winter favourites such as a Champagne fondue to share, decadent hot chocolates, hot toddies and lots of fizz.

Open from Thursday 9th November, the new Fondue terrace space will be fully heated and covered, so guests can get cosy and enjoy the indulgent food and drink on offer, while soaking up the festive decor, with warm lights and cosy blankets.

The carefully curated winter menu available at Fondue is inspired by French Alps chalet favourites, while still using some of the best produce from the North West. Guests can expect classics including traditional French onion soup (slow cooked over 12 hours); the ultimate Gruyère and Champagne fondue (meant for sharing and complemented by baked pretzels, heritage radishes and purple sprouting broccoli); and a Manchester rarebit, featuring Mrs Kirkham’s Lancashire cheese, Bury black pudding, dukkah and Pollen bakery sourdough.

There’s also a plant-based option of whipped heritage beetroot with pomegranate, toasted seeds, mint and dill, served with Pollen bakery sourdough.

Courtesy of Moët & Chandon, the drinks menu is full of sparkle with a choice of Moët & Chandon Impérial Brut, Rosé and Ice Champagnes, all available by the glass or bottle.

The Refuge’s bartenders have also curated a special winter cocktail menu with the help of Moët & Chandon – all named after cultural icons, including Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn and Aretha Franklin. Those who prefer simpler pleasures can sip on a selection of wines and beers, with alcohol-free options also available.

Not forgetting the little ones at this magical time of the year, the Fondue terrace will feature a build-your-own hot chocolate bar, specifically designed so children can place their own orders. Extras include whipped vanilla cream, fudge pieces, grated chocolate, marshmallows and salted caramel, while adults can also add cognac or whisky in their hot chocolate for an extra winter warming treat.

David Steel, General Manager of Kimpton Clocktower, said: “We’re very proud to be partnering with Moët & Chandon for our special winter terrace. We have all worked really hard to create an après ski haven for anyone living in or visiting Manchester. Our doors are open – we can’t wait to welcome you!”

Visitors to Refuge’s Fondue terrace can create moments to remember with its brand-new photo chalet – equipped with warm gold lights to create a unique infinity feel.

In typical Refuge fashion, the Fondue terrace will have a series of DJ sets taking place from November into February, called Chalet Sounds

Fondue will open from 9th November until 29th February. Refuge Terrace, Oxford St, Manchester M60 7HA. Bookings coming soon with some space reserved for walk-in guests.

Opening times for Fondue:
