The fiftieth anniversary of the death of matinee idol James Dean proves to be the catalyst for more than one rebel without a cause

The latest drama from the pen of National Theatre writer Philip Martin and Manchester’s Lass Productions, winners of Best Fringe Production at the 2013 Manchester Theatre Awards.

This brand new play from one of the television masters of the Seventies debuts at 3MT (June 17-19) before moving to Salford Arts Theatre (June 24-25).
‘East of Heysham’ chronicles one fateful night in the company of Morecambe’s enthusiastic, but dwindling James Dean Memorial Society.

In the lonely confines of a northern village hall, the glamour of the silver screen and realities of modern life collide for our dwindling band of apostles to the cult of James Dean.

What is new recruit Sarah hiding? Does everything have its time and die, or are the best of us as eternally young and immortal as James Dean himself? This new mystery thriller is as razor sharp as Dean’s temperament and features some of Manchester’s finest fringe talent.
Tickets are available from www.wegottickets.com/lassproductions and both 3MT/Salford Arts Theatre websites.
