Printworks is inviting families to embark on a wild adventure this summer as it launches its brand-new Summer Safari from Thursday 23 July, a free, immersive experience designed to entertain and educate children throughout the school holidays.
Transforming the entertainment destination’s Pumpyard into a vibrant safari-inspired experience, the Summer Safari invites visitors to step into the heart of the wild. On launch day, families can enjoy an action packed afternoon featuring workshops with BBC CBeebies’ Andy Day, life-size safari animal puppet parades, and interactive themed play zones. All of the excitement will unfold beneath Europe’s largest digital ceiling, brought to life with a spectacular display of immersive safari-themed visuals.
The experience will feature a safari play zone throughout the summer including a safari-themed sandpit where children can dig, play and explore, a safari jeep, created for memorable family photo opportunities and interactive ceiling visuals. The fully wheelchair-accessible vehicle features interactive elements including a working horn, flashing lights and realistic engine sounds, ensuring all children can join the fun.
Across the digital ceiling, a series of safari-themed activations will invite visitors to play, explore and discover including a Safari Animal Trail, which lets guests follow footprints across the space and take part in an interactive quiz, guessing which animal they belong to before being revealed alongside fun facts.

The Summer Safari will officially launch on Thursday 23 July with a special appearance from much-loved children’s television presenter Andy Day, star of BBC CBeebies’ popular Andy’s Adventures series. Adding to the excitement, a majestic giant roaming elephant puppet will parade through Printworks, delighting visitors with three 30-minute roaming performances and creating unforgettable moments for families. To add to the excitement on opening day, young explorers will be able to take home a complimentary Printworks safari hat, helping them continue their adventure well beyond the event.
Known for inspiring children’s curiosity about wildlife, nature and exploration, Andy Day will host three interactive safari-themed workshops throughout the day*, bringing his trademark energy and educational storytelling to Printworks.
