Visitors to Manchester’s Printworks marked the launch of Space Jam: A New Legacy with Manchester Giants players including Jack Hudson, Jordan Whelan and new signing Jamell Anderson this weekend.

Avid cinema goers were able to channel the spirit of the game ahead of watching the latest blockbuster with the British professional basketball team.

Alongside playing ball games with visitors next to Printworks’ and Warner Bros’ Space Jam mural created by street artist Captain Kris, players from the top tier basketball team were able to reveal what the original Space Jam meant to them when it was first released with Michael Jordan, and how it can inspire youngsters to take up the game and make their own legend.

Jason Shay, Centre Director, commented “Space Jam was such an iconic movie, it only makes sense to mark the latest release with a top league Manchester-based basketball team, on hand to answer game related questions.

This is just one of the many activities we’ve got in place over the Summer for families at Printworks, with plenty on offer at Tenpin, Escape Reality, Treetop Adventure Golf and Vue.”

To coincide with the launch of Space Jam: A New Legacy, the world of Looney Tunes has been unleashed on Printworks and Manchester city centre, with two pieces of unique artwork installed just within the venue.

11 classic characters including Bugs Bunny, Lola Bunny, Daffy Duck and Tasmanian Devil, have been installed by street artist Captain Kris, alongside a closing mural featuring basketball legend LeBron James by Printworks’ Walkabout.

The trail covers 12 different locations across Manchester city centre including Printworks, Market Street, Spinningfields and Canal Street – happy hunting for the rest!

Appealing to both families and adults looking to relive the original movie nostalgia, the mischievous artwork will see Daffy Duck waiting for a tram at Exchange Square, Speedy Gonzalez sprinting through Spinningfields, Bugs Bunny bursting out of Primark, Porky Pig popping a pipe at Pen and Pencil, Wile E. Coyote chasing Road Runner around Symphony Park, and the Looney Tunes gang skateboarding through Deansgate Square.

QR codes are hidden within each piece of character art revealing a virtual map so you can find the other locations.

You’ll also have the opportunity to discover what else is new from the Looney Tunes including the Space Jam: A New Legacy trailer starring basketball star LeBron James.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is now showing at Vue Printworks, and you can book your tickets online from just £4.99.

The trail will be on display until the end of July, with the mural remaining throughout the summer.
