Police investigating a shooting in Manchester’s Gay Village on Saturday morning have provided an update into the six men that were arrested at the scene.

The shooting on Richmond Street left a man in his 20s with a gunshot wound to his leg.

The victim remains in hospital with injuries that have been described as non-life threatening and non-life changing.

Two men aged 26 have been recalled to prison in relation to affray offences from a previous incident.

Three men all aged 24 have been bailed pending further investigations.

One man aged 24 remains in police custody for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Woodburn from our city of Manchester division said: “Since the incident happened on Saturday, we have been working hard to establish timeline of events leading up to the shooting.

“Our investigation is still unfolding, and we are continuing to work through the facts that we have available to us.

“I would like to thank the community in the area for their continued support and patience during what has undoubtably challenging period for those who live and work in the area.

“Rest assured, we are doing everything we can, and our officers are still providing regular reassurance to the community and are actively patrolling the area.

“My ask at this stage is to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, seen anything from earlier in the evening, been around the area at the time of the incident or have any information that would assist us with our investigations, to please come forward.
