Affordable homes provider Plumlife has launched Manor Gardens, a brand new development of affordable homes in Walkden, Salford.

Manor Gardens is a stylish collection of 10, three and four bedroom homes (seven, three beds and three, four beds) with superb eco-features, which offer local people the chance to get onto the property ladder.

Homes are available for Shared Ownership, a government-backed scheme which helps local people with an affordable way to buy a new home. The buyer purchases a share of the new home (usually between 35 and 75 per cent) and pays a small rent on the remaining part until they can take further shares to own the home outright.

Lisa Westerman, group head of sales at Plumlife, said: “Recent reports have highlighted the shortage of affordable housing and we know it can take up to eight years for the average first time buyer to save a deposit. Shared Ownership, such as that at Manor Gardens is ideal for a range of people – from first-time buyers to second steppers with families looking to get into a bigger home. People only need a low deposit at five per cent of the share purchased and has many benefits, putting home ownership within reach for some who might not be able to afford it otherwise.

“The eligibility criteria includes total household income at £80,000 a year or less. If you think Shared Ownership might be right for you, come and talk to us to see how we can help.”

Manor Gardens offers a mix of quiet residential living and city life, close to Manchester city centre. It is set on the edge of open farmland, near Blackleach Country Park and Parr Fold Park, with Ellesmere Golf Club nearby. With local shops, doctors and dentists on the doorstep, there are a number of good schools in the location, including Harrop Fold, Salford College, St Andrew’s Methodist Primary and St Edmund’s RC Primary.

Manor Gardens also has excellent transport links, close to the A6, A575, A580 East Lancs Road, M61 and M60 ring road to Manchester, Stockport, Manchester Airport and Leeds. There are bus services to Manchester, Bolton, Leigh and Swinton. Walkden railway station also has twice hourly services to Manchester and Wigan.
