Salford City Council has granted detailed planning consent for 100 Embankment, the second of two Grade A office buildings in Greengate, at the heart of the City’s medieval quarter adjacent to Manchester Cathedral and Victoria Station.
100 Embankment is the second of two Grade A office buildings to be built at the scheme which is a joint venture partnership between Ask Real Estate, Carillion plc and Tristan Capital Partners. The first building, 101 Embankment, is due for practical completion in October.

It will provide a fitting sister building to Ask’s 101 Embankment building and bring much needed Grade A office floor-space to meet the continued strong demand for space in the Regional Centre. 100 Embankment will offer 166,00 sq ft of Grade A office space over eight floors and the BREEAM Excellent building will offer large column-free floor-plates of circa 20,000 sq ft.

Commenting on the determination of the application Ask Real Estate’s Managing Director John Hughes said, “We are delighted that we now have the green light to start on the second Embankment building. The market interest in 101 Embankment has been significant and we are already talking to potential occupiers who are interested in phase two.”

Niall Alcock, Assistant Director at Deloitte Real Estate who acted as planning advisors to the joint venture consortium commented: “The 100 Embankment building is the final piece of the jigsaw in the regeneration of this part of the Greengate area, which is already being transformed by the major office and residential developments nearing completion adjacent to this site.”
Salford City Mayor, Paul Dennett, said: “This is a great opportunity for Salford to attract new jobs and continue the regeneration of the heart of our city. Salford City Council is ready to work with all prospective employers to make it easy for them to re-locate or set up in our city. Working together, we can continue to bring in new job and training opportunities for all our city’s residents.”
Embankment sits within Salford and Manchester’s Medieval Quarter, directly opposite Manchester Cathedral and just minutes’ walk from Victoria Station. With bus and Metrolink services right on the doorstep and access to a wide range of amenities in the City’s shopping district, Embankment is attracting significant interest from large corporate firms wanting to offer the best possible amenities and accessibility to employees. The Q-Park beneath 101 Embankment will operate over 3 floors and will be of particular benefit to office occupiers in both buildings who still have a requirement for a large number of car spaces.
