The Diane Modahl Sports Foundation (DMSF) Hub Festival opens its doors at 12 noon on Saturday 11th June at The Factory Youth Zone in Harpurhey, Manchester.

The day will include a wide range of sport and social activities for young people to get involved in, including a BBQ with music and a wide range of sports from dance, basketball, dodgeball to climbing – with loads of prizes up for grabs!

The DMSF is a registered charity, set up by former Olympian Diane Modahl, to give young people across Greater Manchester access to world class coaching and coaches, who support and mentor future champions. The DMSF works alongside many schools in Greater Manchester, mainly in the disadvantaged areas, and concentrates on giving young people access to opportunities they may never have been offered and aims to create champions, whether that be in the arena of sport, business, culture, politics or any other.

DMSF Programme Coordinator and former Olympian Bex Wilson tells us more about the festival: “We wanted to put an event on for local youngsters and give them something different to try. It’s not a day all about sport, but a day to get together with your mates, have a laugh, enjoy a burger and try out the sports on offer if you want to.

“We’re keen to provide an alternative to hanging round on the streets and maybe we’ll find a gem of a dodgeball player we can encourage to join us on the track. The kids at DMSF often haven’t been given the chance to try new activities, and the DMSF Hub Festival is the perfect opportunity to get together with like-minded people and ultimately have a great day and maybe find their inner dancer or basketball pro and win a few prizes!”

The DMSF Hub Festival will take place from 12-4pm on Saturday 11th June at The Factory Youth Zone, 931 Rochdale Road, Harpurhey, Manchester M9 8AD
