Luke McSharry aged 19of Weavers Road, Middleton has been charged with section 18 assault and possession of an offensive weapon.
He has been remanded to appear before Manchester Magistrates Court today.
The victim was working as a security guard at Middleton shopping centre when he suffered five serious stab wounds on Saturday 14th August in the early afternoon
Officers from GMP Rochdale, with support from Derbyshire Police, arrested the suspect in woodland in Glossop after extensive enquiries by detectives in Rochdale CID.
