Police are hunting for three men armed with machetes and a lump hammer who went into the B&M Bargains shop on The Fort shopping park in Cheetham Hill yesterday afternoon.

They threatened staff and stole cash boxes, before fleeing in a black Ford Focus. The car was later recovered on Richborough Close, in Broughton.

Two of the men wore all black clothing and one wore a grey top. All three were wearing balaclavas.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Gary Smith of GMP’s City of Manchester Team said: “It is fortunate that no-one was injured but being threatened with weapons has left staff extremely shaken.

“If you saw three men wearing balaclavas in the area at the time, or perhaps you saw them fleeing the robbery, I would urge you to get in touch with police.

“You may hold a vital piece of information that could help us catch the people that threatened innocent people with violence.”
