Three youth dance companies from Lancashire and Cumbria have been chosen to make their moves at U.Dance National Youth Festival 2016, at The Lowry on Sat 9 and Sun 10 July.

Young dance talent from Lancashire-based groups Ludus Dance Company and Preston Youth Dance Company, and from the Cumbria-based Eden Youth Dance Company, have been selected from twenty two groups of talented young dancers to perform in the prestigious U.Dance National Youth Festival 2016. These local dance companies will perform, on The Lowry’s stage, alongside aspiring dancers from all over the UK.

U.Dance National Youth Festival 2016 is an annual showcase of the very best in youth dance talent across the UK. U.Dance Festival is delivered by One Dance, the national body for dance in the UK, giving hundreds of young dancers the chance to perform on stage and to work alongside nationally renowned artists.

The three youth companies representing the North West region can’t wait to take centre-stage in the July festival. LYDC (Ludus Youth Dance Company) is one of Lancashire’s flagship youth dance companies, offering talented dancers aged 14-21 years, the opportunity to improve their dance technique, work with nationally respected choreographers and learn about life as a professional artist. Members of LYDC hail from Bolton, Chorley, Preston, Blackpool and Lancaster.

Anthony Briggs, Ludus Youth Dance Company’s Creative Director said;

“We’re absolutely delighted that LYDC has been invited to attend the U.Dance National Festival for the second year running. The whole Company are very excited and honoured to take part and represent the North West – especially so this year, when they will be helping to welcome young dance groups from across England to ‘home turf’ in Salford.”
