Manchester School of Art graphic design student, Raushan Kumar, has been shortlisted from over 250 applicants to be in the final of Britain’s Best Budding Designer competition.

The competition, which attracted more than 250 entries from across the UK, was launched by online print retailer instantprint to find and recognise an aspiring designer worthy of the title ‘UK’s Best Budding Designer’.

The 12 finalists were picked after submitting one of their own designs. They will now design a range of templates for instantprint products, which will be judged by a panel of industry experts: Jim Thacker, Editor of Computer Arts magazine; Pete Rope, Founder of digital design agency ArtScience, and Andy Duke, Head of Design at digital marketing agency Stickyeyes.

Speaking to instantprint, Raushan said: “If I won the competition, I would use the money to kick-start creating my own design collective, but I would also donate a proportion to the Alzheimer’s Society. The design I submitted to instantprint upon entering was a personal project towards my grandmother who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. It aimed to inform and stimulate the physical and emotional breakdown a person with Alzheimer’s possesses through a collection of manipulated visual imagery in a personal diary-styled booklet.”
