Theorists say great food tastes even better in the dark.

Iconic city centre restaurant 20 Stories is about to put that theory to the test by plunging the whole restaurant into darkness for a special Blackout Dinner on April 7th. The only source of light? Thousands of candles and the lights of the Manchester skyline.

An exclusive menu has been created by the restaurant’s new Head Chef, Brian Hughson, with a selection of the finest wines to match.

20 Stories Sales and Marketing Manager Becky Wilkes said: “We’ll be plunging our restaurant into complete darkness, with thousands of candles as the only source of light. It promises to be an unforgettable evening.”

Eminent psychologists have been advocating dining in the dark for the ultimate taste experience for many years. 20 Stories will turn off its lights and tables will be lit by candles whilst taking in the breath-taking city lights. They will be welcoming guests at 7pm for a glass of Moët & Chandon upon arrival, followed by a 4-course dinner. Among the culinary highlights of the Blackout Dinner Menu is the Saddle of Cumbrian lamb, grilled Hispi cabbage, pancetta and coco beans; plus a luxurious dessert of Lemon chiboust, white chocolate, whipped lemon jelly and lemon butterscotch sauce.
