Viral Manchester dessert brand, Buttercup Pudding Bar & Bakery, has announced that its launching a permanent residency at General Store Deansgate Square in an ongoing partnership with HUBB Coffee, from Wednesday 3rd December at 12pm.

The move brings its signature banana pudding and build-your-own pudding bar to one of the city’s busiest neighbourhood hubs.

The residency marks the start-up’s first permanent home since launching in July 2025, after three whirlwind months of rapid growth, sell-out pop-ups across the city centre, and more than 5,000 puddings sold – meaning fans can now get their hands on the viral puddings whenever they desire.

At the heart of the residency is Buttercup’s nostalgic banana pudding: a base of vanilla custard whipped with cream, soft sponge and fresh banana that can be personalised with rotating flavours and toppings. The classic banana pudding will always be available, alongside two rotating flavours such as tiramisu-style or apple crumble, with past favourites including Brown Butter Biscoff and Matcha & White Chocolate.

Customers can personalise their pudding pots with a weekly-changing selection of toppings, including homemade cookie crumb, brownie bites, chocolate chips, pretzels and drizzle sauces such as pistachio, salted caramel, cinnamon honey and raspberry. Classic puddings start at £5.50, rotating flavours at £6, with toppings from 50p. A selection of homemade bakes will also be available daily.

Buttercup Pudding Bar & Bakery was founded by 22-year-old Manchester entrepreneur Natasha Black, who left her dream job in marketing after just a year in the industry to pursue her love of baking. She launched the business from her home, documenting the journey on social media and taking orders directly from there. The venture quickly grew into supplying popular local shops and build-your-own pudding bar pop-ups across the city centre, becoming a viral sensation with queues forming for her now-famous banana pudding.

Buttercup’s residency is introduced off the back of a continued partnership with HUBB Coffee, joining forces on a shared counter inside General Store Deansgate Square. After HUBB began stocking Buttercup’s banana puddings in September, followed by a string of sell-out pop-ups, establishing a permanent spot together became the natural next step.

HUBB Coffee launched its coffee bar at General Store in September, introducing specialty coffee, matcha and its signature ready-to-drink cold brews to the neighbourhood. Now, Buttercup and HUBB operate as one seamless counter experience, offering puddings, bakes, coffee and matcha side by side.

To celebrate the launch, Buttercup and HUBB will be offering free classic banana puddings to the first 20 customers on Saturday 6th December from 12pm, followed by a special £5 combo deal offering a pot of classic banana pudding paired with HUBB’s banana latte, running until 3pm.

Natasha Black, Buttercup founder, comments: “This residency feels like the perfect next step for Buttercup. I’ve been absolutely blown away by the response to our banana pudding in just three months and wanted to give our customers a regular spot to enjoy it. General Store and HUBB have created such an amazing, supportive space for independents and I’m so excited for people to build their own pudding pots and try all the new flavours we’ve been working on.”

Mital Morar, founder of General Store, also commented: “Buttercup has been a standout example of the collaborations we love to support. Their rapid growth and loyal following have been incredible to see. We’re delighted to welcome them in-house alongside HUBB Coffee as a permanent fixture. Natasha and her team bring real creativity and commitment, and we’re excited to work with them through Christmas and into the New Year.”

Dean Hans, Co-founder of HUBB Coffee also comments: “We’ve had a fantastic introduction to Manchester since launching our coffee bar in September. Teaming up with Buttercup strengthens the whole concept – it allows us to focus on what we do best: delivering top-quality coffee, matcha, and beverages, while Buttercup shines on the sweet-treats and pudding side. Bringing the two brands together just makes sense, and we’re excited to explore the mash-ups we can create between our coffee and Buttercup’s pudding range.”

The residency will open 12pm-7pm at General Store, 9 Owen St, Manchester M15 4YB, currently available for walk-ins only. Follow Buttercup on Instagram to stay up to date: @buttercup.mcr.
