Every Easter we are asked the question “how do you eat yours?” And every Easter we try to come up with more and more inventive ways to enjoy our annual chocolate fix. But this year, it seems that the folks at Yard and Coop have really cracked it (sorry).

And why should we expect anything less? Manchester’s chicken experts should, of course, know their way round an egg or two.

They have come up with the Hard Shell Shake – the Northern Quarter restaurant’s very own adult take on the nation’s favourite Easter treat.

The Hard Shell Shake is made up of a large Easter egg with Khalua, Liquor 43 and ice cream. That’s right, this boozy, creamy cocktail is served inside a giant Easter egg shell, so once you’re done indulging on the contents you can enjoy the outside too. It is Easter, after all.

Even better, you can get your hands on one for free this weekend.

Yard and Coop will be hiding 50 golden eggs around Manchester. Those lucky enough to find one will be showered with free Hard Shell shakes, free chicken plus the chance to win Yard & Coop buttermilk fried chicken for a whole year!

Carl Morris, founder of Yard and Coop, explains: “From Good Friday through to Easter Monday we will be hiding our golden eggs throughout the city. It will be up to the people of Manchester to find them, just keep checking the Yard and Coop instagram (@yardandcoop) for clues throughout the four days. Not only that, on Good Friday (25 March) we will be serving up free Hard Shell Shakes between 5pm – 7pm, it’ll be on a first come first served basis so act like a spring chicken and get in quick.”

Yard and Coop is Manchester’s first specialist buttermilk fried chicken restaurant. Based on Edge Street in the Northern Quarter, the bar and restaurant will be serving its Hard Shell Shake for a limited time only, priced at £9.50.

The only question left is, who came first – The Yard and Coop Chicken or the Chocolate Egg?
