A Manchester-based fitness business is helping companies stay in touch with working from home employees, keeping team spirit alive and helping keep bodies and minds in tip-top condition through a new virtual corporate wellness programme.

Lockdown three has seen Media City-based LUV Fitness launch a new wellness programme specifically for businesses who understand the benefits of physical and mental health amongst their workforce and appreciate their legal duty of care, as employers.

The virtual fitness experts, who pivoted at the very start of lockdown one, by shutting their Radcliffe-based gym and deciding to stream their fitness classes into homes via technology, have already been working with clients such as Ultimate Products in Oldham and Manchester-based Lululemon.

Both companies recognised that working from home can mean physical fitness levels falling and the potential for long and harmful periods of inactivity.  They also believed that the mental health of their employees would benefit from group activity – not of the meeting variety – which could rebuild bonds and deliver fun and mutual support at a trying time.

LUV Fitness has developed a programme with all of the answers.  Class sessions of 20-40 minutes’ duration are designed to run over the course of four weeks for a company’s workforce, large or small. Employees can either join the live stream and be with other colleagues in real-time, or tune into an on-demand recording, at a time to suit.

They can also access a library of pre-recorded sessions from LUV Fitness’s regular fitness classes, attended by people across the world and covering weights, cycling, boxing and more.

The high-energy live sessions, incorporating music and uplifting lighting effects created within a specially designed studio, have given the LUV Fitness brand somewhat of a cult following and take a holistic approach to fitness.  They cover topics such as nutrition and hydration, positivity, the requirement for structure in lockdown living and the benefits of fresh air.

A private social media group is created, to encourage social chat around the group and classes are accessed by a personalised and private code.

Weight and daily steps’ targets are set and monitored and items, such as bottles of water, used instead of equipment found in boxing or weights class.  It is a class that boosts team bonding enormously and enables a company to know it has supported employees’ health.

Rather than just paying for a gym subscription and never knowing if employees use it, employers know who is taking part and benefiting.

“Our new corporate sessions are serving so many purposes and have a unique vibe.  They are helping bring people back together and improving their health at the same time.

Forward-thinking businesses know operations run much more productively when there is a rich vein of wellbeing in the workforce. This is what we deliver for them and our corporate class members are loving it.  Rather than being isolated and developing health issues, they are back together and achieving much higher levels of fitness, health and wellness.”

(Nick Phillips, LUV Fitness’s owner and class trainer)

The corporate wellness programme is priced per participant, with pricing falling into three bands – 0-50 employees, 51-100 employees and over 100.  Prices start at £12 per employee taking part and any business with over five members of staff can sign up.
