Police have made three arrests after a man was stabbed to death in broad daylight in Oldham yesterday afternoon.

He is believed to be in his 20s, and was found with multiple stab wounds on Waterloo Street, Oldham near to Charters Jewellers.

He was taken to hospital where he sadly died.

Late yesterday evening, three men aged 20, 20 and 22, and a 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of murder. They remain in police custody for questioning.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Superintendent Nicky Porter, said: “Although the investigation is making good progress, it remains in its early stages.

“I appeal to anyone who may have witnessed what happened yesterday or who has any information to contact us.

“A large cordon remains in place and I am grateful for the support the local community and the hospitality they have shown to officers, some of them keeping them supplied with hot drinks during a very wet night.

“My foremost thoughts are with the family who have suffered this tragedy and they continue to be support by specially trained officers.”
