Loaf Mcr will be opening its doors on Friday 4th November at Bruntwood Works’ St James’s Building, with a specially designed retro pink cafe. To celebrate, they’re giving away 100 free cakes from 12PM until they’re gone.  Loaf will continue their baking bonanza the following day, with funky entertainers dishing out delicious cake samples from 12-5PM, bringing back fan-favourite flavours Manchester Tart Load and Vimto Loaf. Every 10th customer could also be in with a chance to win their coffee or cake completely on the house.

The brand is known for making handmade, delicious loaf cakes, inspired by the nation’s favourite biscuits and treats. Alongside their classic collection of nostalgic cakes, expect new specials every two weeks. Most recent specials include: Manchester Tart, Solero, Lemon Meringue Pie, Pina-ca-Loafa, and Chocolate Vimto with ice cream.

There’ll also be handmade Loaf Au Choc and Brioche Loaf fresh on the counter every day – served by the slice with your choice of toppings. Get ready for more new tasty breakfast options for the early risers, too.

Loaf is also working on some great new light lunch options. Balance the sweet with savoury with grab-and-go artisanal sandwiches and bagels from Sndwch Mcr, as well as drinks and snacks by Store Supply who try to only use independent or local brands.

Aiden Ryan, founder of loaf MCR said: “It feels like forever since we got the keys to the old Patisserie Valerie, but it seems we’re finally here! I cannot wait to show you the store and all the love we’ve had put into it! We think you will absolutely love it. I can’t thank everyone enough for helping make this a reality!”

Charlotte Wild, Head of Retail and Leisure at Bruntwood Works, commented: “Loaf will make a wonderful addition to the thriving Oxford Road corridor. The fantastic range of handmade cakes will add an exciting new dimension to the neighbourhood. It’s great to see Aiden and his team open their first bricks and mortar site in Manchester city centre, and we are delighted to be supporting independent businesses on their journey, especially such a great local success story born out of the challenges of COVID.”

Loaf Mcr have worked closely with interior designers, NCStudio, to achieve a ‘Retro Modern’ style cafe space that transitions beautifully from day to night.

Katie Lea, Design Director at NC Studio commented: “Working on bringing Loaf’s first standalone space to life has been a lot of fun. The design takes inspiration from a ‘fat slice’ and is true to this concept throughout every detail. Oversized curves draw you near and the iconic brand pink immerses you into the world of Loaf!”

Working with local artists and makers, the store is rich with bespoke design and features from handmade Jesmonite worktops by Misshandled to individually designed LED signs by graphic designer, Oskar with a K, to reflect the brand’s curvy, retro feels.

Following the official opening of Loaf MCR, there are a number of exciting events happening throughout November and December. This includes the Bundo-Loaf Special throughout November – a new collaboration with Oxford Road neighbours Bundobust, as well as mini Christmas workshops with the incredible Cotton On MCR & a merch collaboration with not-for-profit fashion brand, The Blank Faces, who support homelessness charity The Mustard Tree.

A specially curated dessert and natural wine evening, in collaboration with Alive Wines, will also be coming to Loaf MCR during their Late Night Loaf Fridays. Fans should keep an eye out on socials for any official announcements.
