Lidl UK has teamed up with Manchester Food and Drink Festival to give foodie families and wine fans an experience to remember

From this week, Lidl is hosting a free wine pop-up experience at Manchester’s nationally acclaimed food and drink festival, where visitors can sample from more than 15 different wines, surrounded by fun, larger-than-life props to get them immersed in the French lifestyle.

Dropping into the main festival hub in Albert Square, the unmissable ‘Lidl Giant Bag For Life’ will be located by the bar in the food and drink village for six days between Thursday 27th September and Tuesday 2nd October. Throughout the week, the food and wine extravaganza will offer visitors the chance to sample Lidl’s listed wines, delicious cheeses, gluten free crackers and Deluxe charcuterie – un-ticketed and unlimited for all to enjoy.

The pop-up will also offer wine masterclasses from Lidl’s wine experts, including Master of Wine Richard Bampfield on the Friday and Saturday, focussing on Lidl’s new French Wine Tour. Wines available to try during the masterclass include:

· Crémant de Bourgogne, £7.99 – A trendy alternative to Prosecco, this has aromas of honey and brioche

· Mascavinae Picpoul de Pinet, £6.99 – Fresh, juicy and appetising, with a dry finish and citrussy fruits

· Côté Garrigue Rosé Languedoc, £5.99 – A dry, refreshing drop with notes of strawberry and white pepper

· Clos des Batuts Cahors, £6.99 – A deep, vivid, bright red wine with notes of dark fruit and spice

· Fitou Les Cazals Cascatel, £8.99 – This smooth and full-bodied red has notes of dark cherry fruit

· Muscat de Saint Jean de Minervois, £5.99 – Sweet wine with intense flavours of pineapple and orange

With something for everyone, visitors can also have fun just outside the ‘Lidl Giant Bag For Life’ marquee and pose for Instagram-worthy pics next to a giant baguette, giant wine bottle, and bunch of grapes. Within the Lidl marquee, parents can use the handy baby changing facilities and make use of free nappies and wipes whilst they’re in the city. There will also be goodie bag giveaways with Lidl vouchers to spend in store!

The Lidl wine activity and masterclasses at the festival are free of charge and available to the general public on a first come, first served basis, running from 1pm Thursday 27th September to Tuesday 2nd October. There will be tastings each day in the six-day Lidl marquee at: 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm and 7pm, with Richard Bampfield MW leading the classes on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th September.
