To mark National Margarita Day, Jose Cuervo tequila is teaming up with Crazy Pedro’s, in Manchester, to launch its Margarita Margherita pizza.

There’s the classic Margherita pizza and there’s the classic Margarita cocktail. Put the two together and say hello to the world’s first ever Margarita Margherita pizza: a unique fusion of food and drink from Jose Cuervo that combines all the ingredients of a Margherita pizza with those of the iconic tequila cocktail – all in time for National Margarita Day.

The world’s oldest tequila, Jose Cuervo, teamed up with leading food economists to develop the unprecedented taste sensation that is the Margarita Margherita pizza. With lockdown seeing millions turn to takeaways and deliveries, Jose Cuervo hopes its Margarita Margherita will become the ‘pizza de resistance’ of lockdown meals for fans of bread, cheese, tomato and Mexican cocktails.

The Margarita Margherita pizza recipe includes:

  • A pizza dough fermented in Jose Cuervo tequila for over 24-hours
  • A tomato sauce marinated in triple sec, salt, garlic and Jose Cuervo tequila
  • A topping of Buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil leaves and grated parmesan
  • A garnish of sea salt and fresh lime

What’s more, every purchase of the £8 pizza will come with a complimentary special edition pizza-inspired Margarita cocktail that combines the traditional sweet and savoury flavours of a traditional Margarita with toppings found in a traditional Margherita pizza. It contains fresh lemon juice, basil, fresh tomatoes and tequila. Finished off with a garnish of cherry tomatoes and a mozzarella ball on a skewer with basil leaves.

Fans of tequila and Crazy Pedro’s can order from today, then deliveries of both the pizza and cocktail will arrive on National Margarita Day on Monday 22nd February.
