The Prime Minister has once again come under fire for an alleged gathering in the Downing Street garden at the height of the COVID lockdown in 2020

In an email sent by Martin Reynolds and shared with ITV News this afternoon, the Prime Minister’s principal private secretary is seen inviting Downing Street staff to “some socially distanced drinks” and telling them to “bring your own booze”.

According to ITV News, around 40 staff gathered in the garden that evening, eating food and drinking at the party first alleged in a blog by former adviser Dominic Cummings last week. Attendees included Johnson and his wife Carrie Johnson.

On the day of the alleged party – minister Oliver Dowden told the public during a Covid press conference: “You can meet one person outside of your household in an outdoor, public place provided that you stay two metres apart.”

Tameside MP and Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner said :

Boris Johnson has complete disregard for the rules he sets.

While he was partying, frontline workers were putting themselves at risk, NHS staff were on the frontline and too many of us lost loved ones and couldn’t say a proper goodbye.

Hannah Brady on behalf of Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice:

“My Dad died just four days before this email was sent out, he was only 55 and was a fit and healthy key worker.

She added

To make matters worse, in Sep I sat in that same garden, looked the PM in the eyes & told him how my dad had died. He told me he had ‘done everything he could’ to protect my dad, knowing he had partied in that same spot the very day that dad’s death certificate was signed.
