Manchester based act Fingathing are set to take to the stage at Salford’s newest venue for a 10 hour marathon set

Manchester based act, Fingathing, an award winning turntablist, a classically trained double bass player are set to take to the stage at Salford’s newest venue, the Adelphi Lads Club this weekend for a 10 hour marathon set.

With temperatures set to soar this weekend the Adelphi Lads Club is the perfect venue to cool down with a pint or an Aperol Spritz as Fingathing kick off the free gig at 2PM to keep revellers entertained long into the balmy Manchester evening.

Fingathing was born in 1997 when award-winning turntablist Peter Parker met classically trained double bassist and jazz head Sneaky and instantly hit it off.  Making music in a way that had never been tried before; using just one turntable and the bass to produce seriously block-rocking power grooves. Adding the warped visuals from illustrator and animator Chris Drury and Fingathing, from Manchester UK, was conceived.

Situated on North George street, the Adelphi Lads Club will be serving pizza from Talk to Me Pizza. Founded by a bunch of scruffy haired lads residing in South Manchester, Talk To Me Pizza has taken Manchester by storm with sites in Northern Quarter and Withington. Highlights on the Adelphi Lads Club menu include the Salami San Marzano tomatoes, Fior Di Latte, Pepperoni, Salami Milano, Piquillo Peppers, Oregano and Basil, the Twisted Hawaiian San Marzano tomatoes, Fior Di Latte, Crispy Prosciutto, Pineapple Glaze and Piquillo Peppers or their entirely vegan pizza, the Plaintain a Plantain base, Vegan mozzarella, Caramelised onions, Pickled Scotch bonnets, Garlic oil, Oregano and Basil.

If pizza isn’t your thing, then Wing Tings, a London based duo, will also be in residency from Thursday serving up their signature style chicken wings and chicken tender sandwiches. BBQ, buffalo, and chilli are among the sauces on offer – made to perfectly pair with the Adelphi Lads Club IPA.

The Adelphi Lads Club has confirmed an exciting summer programme of all-day parties from the largest regional promoters and underground chilled sets from globally recognised DJ’s. In the coming weeks expect performances from acts such as DRS & Friends, Helen K, Lil’ Minx, Metrodome, Out of the Quiet, and Veba. There will also be some exciting food from some of the most exciting players on the Manchester food scene right now.

The venue is the perfect space to enjoy the Mancunian summer, with a sun drenched green oasis benefitting from all day sunshine and an outdoor DJ booth. Inspired by the Middle Eastern and Mediterranean, the Adelphi Garden’s blue walls and foliage create the perfect backdrop for the programmed entertainment with a bedouin inspired tent to seek shade and shelter from Manchester’s famously changeable weather.

The interior pays homage to the Adelphi Lads Club of old; industrial and raw with original exposed brickwork and floor tiles.  The custom concrete bar is offset by the repurposed leather  seating salvaged from venues around the UK.

The Adelphi Lads Club was formed in 1888 by 23-year-old teacher Walter Southern, as a means to keep impoverished kids off the street and out of trouble. It quickly became the centre of the community before closing its doors in 2008.
