The BBC has said that Huw Edwards would have been sacked had he been charged over accessing indecent images while still working for the corporation, adding that it was “shocked” at his “abhorrent behaviour”
Edwards pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children this morning and will be sentenced in September
The Corporation admits it knew about Edwards’ arrest last November, but he remained a paid employee until April 2024.
During the 25-minute hearing, prosecutor Ian Hope said Edwards had been sent a total of 377 sexually explicit images by an adult male on WhatsApp, 41 of which were indecent, illegal images of children.
