The Home Secretary James Cleverly has sacked David Neal, the independent chief inspector of borders and immigration

The home office claims he ‘breached the terms of appointment and lost the confidence of the home secretary’

The sacking comes after he said that ‘high risk’ passengers were being allowed into the UK without security checks on private jets

He also said that a quarter of foreign care workers are abusing UK visa rules by working illegally in other industries and also revealed that the Home Office issued 275 visas to a care home that didn’t exist and 1,234 to a company that only had four domestic staff

A Home Office spokesperson said

“We have terminated the appointment of David Neal, the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration, after he breached the terms of appointment and lost the confidence of the Home Secretary.

“The planned recruitment process for the next Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration is in progress.”
