A number of businesses in the region have been named as part of a Government crackdown on enterprises that fail to pay the National Minimum wage
Among those named were Red Contract Solutions (Back Office Support) Ltd, Salford who failed to pay £652,395.20 to 11,631 workers and Go Outdoors Retail Limited, Pilsworth, Bury who failed to pay £240,105.62 to 2,058 workers.
This action comes as the Government introduces the biggest upgrade to workers’ rights and enforcement for a generation through its Plan to Make Work Pay, which is set to directly benefit around 15 million, or half of all UK, workers.
As well as ensuring hard work is properly rewarded with fair treatment and decent pay, from April 2026 the Employment Rights Bill will also establish a new Fair Work Agency with more powers to tackle employers underpaying workers and failing to pay holiday and sick pay.
Others named were Elle R Leisure Limited, Manchester who failed to pay £37,357.70 to 280 workers, Hour Homecare Limited, Manchester who failed to pay £18,079.07 to 82 workers and on Monto Village School Ltd, Monton Village, who failed to pay £14,900.64 to 11 workers.
Heywood Reform Club, Rochdale failed to pay £13,202.22 to 1 worker, Mana Restaurant Group Ltd, Manchester failed to pay £7,364.52 to 16 workers, Kiddiewinkles Limited, Eccles failed to pay £5,824.27 to 23 workers.
Across the country almost 500 employers failed to pay the minimum wage with around 42,000 workers have been repaid by their employers, including well-known high street brands, with employers receiving fines totalling £10.2 million for breaking the rules. Centrica.
Today’s announcement follows significant increases to National Minimum Wage rates earlier this year.
From April, millions got a pay rise with those on the National Living Wage who work full-time seeing their families supported by an extra £1,400 per year.
