With spooky season upon us Cathedral Gardens will play host to one of the colourful creatures at its largest ever outdoor ice rink

As the cold air draws in and spooky season begins, ghoulish monsters will take over Manchester again this Halloween. Cathedral Gardens will play host to one of the colourful creatures at its largest ever outdoor ice rink.

From 21 to 31 October, Scare Skate will welcome spooky loving friends and families to take to the ice for a frightful experience to remember. One of the iconic MCR monsters will take centre stage at the rink as part of the annual Halloween in the City event.

The spooktacular rink will be complete with Halloween-themed music and lighting and will bring frightfully good fun to half term festivities. Fancy dress is encouraged with plenty of themed props for the all-important ‘Instagrammable moments’.

In the true magic of Christmas, Cathedral Gardens will transform into a winter wonderland following its Halloween-themed opening week. A dazzling seven metre tall Christmas tree will take centre stage  in the middle of a custom made ice path taking the spot occupied by the MCR monster.

Rob Derry, Managing Director, Ice & Special Events at Arena, which coordinates the event, says: “Halloween is always a spectacular time in Manchester, and we’re thrilled to be part of the iconic Monsters in the City trail for another year. In the beautiful setting of Cathedral Gardens, Scare Skate offers an exciting and unique activity that will bring all of the family together.”

Tickets for Scare Skate are available now, with prices starting at £14.50 for adults and £12.50 for children, with discounted family, group bookings and season tickets also available. Students and key workers will also benefit with a dedicated discount.

From 2 November to 2 January, except for Christmas Day, Skate Manchester will be open daily. After Halloween, the rink will take on the magic of Christmas, providing the perfect activity for festive get-togethers. For more information and to book tickets, visit www.skatemanchester.com.
