The Great Northern will be launching Free Play Fridays in its iconic outdoor amphitheatre. This will be in addition to the already popular Sandpit and Play House and will commence on the 5th July.

The weekly sessions will put emphasis on family time! Being coordinated by highly experienced and professional play-facilitators the sessions will inspire parents to encourage imaginative play, whilst children interact with the natural materials provided.

Sessions will run from 11am – 3pm and families can have a go at building everything from top-secret dens or skyscraper sandcastles, all whilst making friends with other children. Sounds fun right?

Centre Director for Great Northern, Mark Schofield, said: “We not only recognise the value of outdoor play for children, but have also seen how parents enjoy having some help and inspiration in different ways to play with their little ones – that is what our play facilitators are brilliant at.

He continued, “Great Northern provides a central hub in the city for all ages, and we think play sessions like these can contribute towards building a stronger Great Northern community.”

Sessions will be run by Forest School Practitioners who are fully DBS checked, and will take place weekly until September as part of  On The Beach’s Great Northern Summer in the amphitheatre.

Get yourselves down and have fun while socialising with family!
