The former Conservative Deputy leader Lee Anderson has had the party whip removed following comments he made about the London Mayor Sadiq Khan

Anderson told his other employer GB News that “Islamists” have “got control” of the Muslim mayor of London, who Anderson said has “given our capital city away to his mates.”

The party initially defended Anderson, the but as the internal and external backlash continued,the Chief Whip Simon Hart eventually suspended Anderson when he refused to apologise .

Labour leader Keir Starmer on Saturday urged the PM to get a grip on the “extremists” in his party and told the Observer that Sunak’s “weakness means Tory MPs can act with impunity.”
