The former Chief Prosecutor for the North West is to complain to police about an incident at the weekend which saw his car tyres burst in a police stinger operation

Nazir Afzal relayed the story on Twitter saying that Greater Manchester Police deployed a stinger to take my car’s tyres out at 20mph as it had been reported stolen

It turned out that another force,West Midlands Police had erroneously logged a report with one digit wrong which saw the car being logged as stolen

“I now have four new tyres to replace the four new tyres I recently put on” Nazir added

He told BBC North West tonight that Manchester Police quickly realised their mistake but the incident had left his son traumatised and he would be making a complaint to West Midlands Police “because it appears it is down there that the mistake was made”.
