Firefighters have been tackling a blaze overnight at a former nightclub in Blackley
The premises of the former Vasa in Blackley on White Moss Road, at the junction of Rochdale Road are believed to have been gutted by the blaze which broke out earlier this evening
Road closures were in place and people weee asked to avoid the area where possible. Residents nearby were told to keep windows and doors closed by the Fire Service
An investigation into the cause of the fire will begin this morning
The City Council will be working with the owners to get the site cleaned up and made secure.
