El Camino is bringing Mexican vibes to The Assembly over the May bank holiday weekend as the new concept holds its first Cinco De Mayo celebration.

The annual celebration of Cinco De Mayo is approaching, and Manchester’s favourite Mexican food trader El Camino will be holding a special pop up from Sunday 5th – Monday 6th May. El Camino will be back in Urmston for the bank holiday celebration to showcase their famous tacos as they team up with The Assembly craft beer bar.

It’s no secret El Camino really took off in Urmston during its Taco-over at Get Chucked, but the secret lies in the fact it was the same team as the popular beer and BBQ joint all along!

The duo behind Get Chucked trialled the new concept after popular demand from their social media following, and originally hosted a pop-up Mexican supper club in December with a limited number of tickets, which sold out within minutes. They then launched a one month pop-up in 78 cover venue Get Chucked, which sold out consistently for the duration of their residency.

Diners this weekend can expect dishes such as beer braised beef tacos with habanero aioli and pickled red chilli; and new 24hr citrus marinated chicken, green chillies, pink onion, radish and lime aioli. Plus there will be homemade hot sauces, guacamole prepped to order and plenty of options for veggies too, such as spiced cauliflower, pickled red chilli, radish and vegan lime aioli; or torched corn, pico de gallo, avocado hot sauce and feta.

Drinks on offer over the weekend will include largeritas and craft beer all supplied by the beer house. With an offering of eight keg lines, The Assembly pours beers from some of the most exciting local, national and international breweries, so there really is something to suit everyone!

The Assembly is a suburban beer house in South Manchester’s hidden gem of Urmston and will be hosting the two day pop up. The venue prides itself on being an inclusive space where everyone from new beer drinkers to hardcore craft fans can go to drink, meet friends and talk beer. The Assembly opened their doors in February 2018 and was proud to be named runner up in the Manchester Beer Week Awards for “Best New Bar 2018”.

Scott Power of El Camino said ‘The demand for El Camino in Urmston has been overwhelming. During our takeover with Get Chucked, we were pretty much fully booked every day! It was great to see so many new faces and familiar ones returning. We were obviously doing something right, so it only makes sense to bring it back for Cinco De Mayo!’

Sophie Robinson from The Assembly said ‘We’re really looking forward to hosting the Cinco De Mayo pop-up over here at The Assembly. The boys over at El Camino had such a good response to their taco-ver at Get Chucked. Our beers and their food really is the perfect combination.’

The El Camino team is previously from a street food background, and created a pop-up over at the Urmston favourite Get Chucked back in February. It was so popular, they extended the takeover for an extra week and are now looking at more permanent sites for the Mexican concept.
